Earlier today, Embark Studios announced a hotfix patch for Arc Raiders via the game’s official Discord server. Ironically, the need for an emergency hotfix was due to Discord itself, as it was discovered that users’ private messages were being shared with other members of the community without their consent. The issue has been resolved in this latest update.

“I’ve been following this thread with interest, and I’m glad Embark Studios took prompt action. However, we need to drill down on what exactly went wrong here. Discord’s privacy issue is a symptom of a larger problem: our reliance on proprietary platforms that prioritize profit over people. We can do better than this. Are there any alternatives being explored for game communities?”
