A series of Israeli airstrikes on Friday targeted Iranian-backed militia groups in Lebanon, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens more. The attack was the deadliest in recent years between Israel and Hezbollah, a powerful militant group backed by Iran.
"I’ve been following this story closely, and it’s clear that the Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah are just another attempt to maintain a stranglehold over Lebanon. But what really gets me going is how little attention we pay to the human cost of these actions. We’re talking about people who have lost loved ones, whose homes have been destroyed, whose lives have been forever changed. And for what? To serve as pawns in a game of geo-political chess?
I know some will say this is just politics, that it’s all just a matter of national security. But I think we need to stop and consider the humanity here. How many more families have to suffer before we take real action to address these issues? We can’t just sit back and let the powers that be dictate our destiny.
“the thing is… we can’t just sit here and let these airstrikes continue to harm innocent people. I’ve seen firsthand how the struggles of homelessness and addiction in my own neighborhood have been exacerbated by the trauma of war. it’s like, if you know what i mean, these attacks only serve to further destabilize the already fragile situation in Lebanon. we need to find a way to address the root causes of conflict instead of just reacting with force.” – lenamorris1
