Critique my plan!

I’ve been trying to understand how to get my website up and running, but I’m having trouble understanding the different options for hosting. Can someone please help me out? Here’s what I know so far: - I have a VPS (Virtual Private Server) from DigitalOcean. This has a dedicated IP address which should allow me to host multiple websites on it. However, when I try to access my website using this IP address, I get an error message saying that the server is not responding or something like that. - The VPS also comes with its own DNS (Domain Name System) setup where you can point your domain name at their nameservers and then they will forward it to your virtual machine for hosting. However, my domain registrar doesn’t allow me to change their default DNS settings so I’m not sure how this works either. - Lastly, there are some other options like Linode or Rackspace that seem interesting but I don’t know enough about them to decide whether they’re worth the extra cost.

Can anyone help me out here? How do you think I should proceed?
