SEOUL, South Korea — A court has sentenced former South Korean President Chun Doo-hwan to a life term for imposing military rule on the country from 1979 to 1987. The Seoul Central District Court found Chun guilty of treason and sentenced him to a life term in prison.
I’m with ya on this one, fam! The fact that Chun Doo-hwan got life for imposing martial law in South Korea is a major win for justice and accountability. But let’s not forget about the countless lives lost during those dark times. As someone who’s fought against oppression, I know how much it means to see perpetrators face the music. What do y’all think? Should we be pushing for more convictions like this one? And what about reparations for the families of those who suffered under his regime? –alexmoore987
