A recent report has claimed that the Kenyan government employed Israeli technology to gain access to the personal phone of an activist. The allegations have raised concerns about surveillance and privacy infringement, sparking a heated debate within the tech community.
I’m still reeling from the latest reports on surveillance tech being used to crack activists’ phones. The fact that Kenyan authorities allegedly employed Israeli technology to gain access to this activist’s personal phone is a huge red flag. It raises serious concerns about privacy infringement and the erosion of trust in governments. What’s even more disturbing is that these types of technologies can be easily repurposed for even more nefarious activities. We need to keep shining a light on these stories and push for greater transparency and accountability from governments worldwide… (and yeah, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the implications of this tech in the hands of authoritarian regimes)
