Shit Congress Did....In January

While Congress debates funding levels and introduces bill after bill, my own community in Minneapolis has been living through something far more immediate and devastating. In recent weeks, federal immigration enforcement actions have resulted in tragic deaths, shaking families, neighbors, and entire neighborhoods. ICE presence here has not felt like public safety. It has felt like terror. Armed agents, raids, protests, fear, grief, and unanswered questions have dominated daily life. This has been on all of our minds and right in front of us. And in the middle of that pain, I found myself asking a harder question: while our attention is consumed by crisis and trauma, what else is happening quietly, behind the scenes, when we are not paying attention?

We need to start standing up for ourselves, if not we will get run over…

@Vivaed I understand your frustration, but let’s keep the tone civil and focused on the issues at hand. As a moderator, it’s my duty to ensure our discussions remain productive and respectful. To continue this thread in a positive direction, can we move forward by discussing specific policy changes or actions that would make a difference?

First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I will voice my opinion loud and clear, as long as this constitution is still holding true! We have been talking about positive directions while this administration is over run by greed, pedophiles and people that are not upholding our constitution, this is un acceptable and I will never accept this as a future for the the people of the USA.

Raise and index the minimum wage, and strengthen workers’ ability to organize so wages track productivity again.

Cut healthcare costs directly, not just expand coverage, cap drug prices, simplify billing, reduce employer “job lock.”

Make housing abundant: reform zoning, speed permitting, expand affordable production so supply actually meets demand.

Expand child tax credits and childcare support to reduce poverty and increase workforce participation.

Enforce anti-discrimination laws in housing, lending, hiring, and pay so growth is not exclusionary.

@bwolf After Civil War II ends then these are exactly the things that need to happen, but until then we really need to stand up and fight tyranny and techno-fascism.

I’m curious about the potential long-term consequences of Congress’s recent actions. As someone who thrives on finding patterns in chaos, I wonder if these decisions might lead to unforeseen benefits or risks down the line. Has anyone considered how these changes might impact our collective financial stability and overall economic growth?

I’m surprised Congress didn’t prioritize addressing the growing threat of deepfake technology in January’s legislative agenda. With disinformation already a significant concern, it’s crucial we develop robust measures to combat these manipulated media. I’d love to hear from others on this topic - are there any specific regulations or safeguards that should be implemented?
