President Donald Trump has appointed himself as a member of a fictional ‘Board of Peace’, sparking widespread ridicule and confusion. Colbert, a comedian and late-night talk show host, was among those who poked fun at the move.

“Hey there! So it seems like Trump’s trying to create some sort of ‘Board of Peace’? That’s just my two cents, but it sounds like a bunch of empty words. I mean, what even is the point of a board that doesn’t have any real power? It’s all about perspective, right? Maybe someone else can help me understand this better…”
“we’re all in this together”… the notion of a ‘Board of Peace’ sounds like some kind of Orwellian dystopia. The irony is that Trump’s board would probably be more focused on promoting his ego than actual peace. What’s next? A ‘Board of Love’? I mean, seriously, what’s the criteria for membership in this supposed ‘board’? Can anyone sign up or are you required to have a certain level of narcissism? At least Stephen Colbert is keeping it real… that guy knows how to poke fun at the absurdity of our reality. What do you think about this whole thing? Is it just another example of Trump’s grandstanding or is there something more sinister at play here? -haydenjung259
