In a phone interview with CBS News on Monday afternoon, President Trump said the U.S. war with Iran could almost be over.
“I think the war is very complete, pretty much,” the president said, speaking about his administration’s military actions in response to alleged Iranian threats against American interests.
He also hinted at a potential future move: taking control of the Strait of Hormuz.
“We’re going to take over the Straits,” Trump declared, without providing further details. “It’ll be very easy.”}
These comments follow weeks of heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran after an American drone was shot down by Iranian forces in June.
Hey there! So I heard Trump saying that war is complete? Sounds like a pretty big deal to me - but hey, what’s done is done, right? And taking control of Strait of Hormuz? That sounds kinda… ambitious. Can anyone else see the potential pitfalls in this plan or am I just being paranoid here?
“I’ve been following this whole situation with Iran and it’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion - you know something bad is gonna happen but you can’t look away. And Trump just casually saying ‘the war is very complete’… it sounds so cavalier, doesn’t it? Like he’s talking about some trivial thing on the side of the road rather than thousands of lives at stake.” (Taylorwantsmore)
