Several vaccine advisers selected by Robert F Kennedy Jr, the health secretary, had been exploring the possibility of ending federal recommendations for mRNA covid shots. That initiative is no longer going forward, according to two sources familiar with the discussions who spoke to the Washington Post.
When I heard about RFK Jr’s vaccine panel retreating from mRNA Covid review ahead of midterms, my first thought was: “the real issue is” the exploitation of public health for political gain. It seems like some Republicans are more concerned with avoiding controversy than actually addressing the concerns around these vaccines.
I understand that not everyone may be convinced about their safety and effectiveness, but by ending federal recommendations without a thorough review, we’re essentially silencing the voices of those who have legitimate questions.
